Do you know the best way to brush your smile? Here are some steps to follow so you can properly clean your teeth and have improved dental health.
How To Brush Your Teeth
In order to thoroughly brush your teeth and prevent dental problems from developing, you must brush your smile twice a day for two minutes time (once a day for flossing). To correctly brush your teeth, you must:
- Hold the toothbrush at a 45 degree angle to your gums.
- Move the toothbrush side to side. These strokes should be short, about the width of a tooth.
- Clean the outer surface of teeth, the inner surface, and then the chewing surface. Start with the molars in the back of your mouth and make your way forward.
- Brush the surface of your tongue.
What Toothbrush To Use
It is important that you use a toothbrush with soft bristles in order to prevent harm to your dental health. Make sure that your toothbrush fits comfortably in your mouth and is able to reach the teeth in the back. It doesn’t really matter if you use a manual toothbrush or an electric one, because they clean teeth equally well. However, an electric toothbrush may be the better option if you have limited dexterity in your hands. No matter what toothbrush you use, make sure that you change it every 3-4 months because it will fray and collect bacteria.
